Company Drivers

Compensation:
Paid Vacations, Paid Holidays (Call for details), Per Diem Pay

Safety and Incentive Awards:
An annual bonus will be awarded to deserving drivers, based on safety performance, subject to the sole discretion of L.J. Kennedy management, if business conditions permit.

Insurance:
Upon completion of your ninety-day probationary period, you will be eligible to receive medical benefits and life insurance for yourself and your family with a small payroll deduction. A prescription plan is also provided. Call for details.

Drug Testing and Physicals:
L.J. Kennedy pays for your drug test & physicals.

Equipment:
Equipment is scrupulously maintained.(All tractors are conventionals). There is no slip-seating. Most trucks are mid-rise sleepers with 10-speed transmissions. Tractors are equipped with jake brakes. Average tractor is under four years of age. Heated/power-mirrors, custom interiors and power windows are standard. Most engines generate 450 hp at 2100 rpm. A mixture of Macks, Volvos, Internationals & Freightliners comprise our fleet. All tractors are equipped with EZ Pass to minimize out-of-pocket toll expenses. Most tractors are equipped with Qualcomm mobile-satellite receivers.

401K, Direct Deposit, and Pension:
A 401K program is available to all drivers. There is no charge to participate. Enrollment is in January & July. Direct deposit, our preferred payroll method, is also available.

Recruitment Bonus:
A bonus of up to $1000.00 per referred driver hired is available; ask for details.

Communications:
We offer you "e-mail service" through the Qualcomm Cabcard System, at a small charge -- ask for details.

You are part of our team and we will treat you that way! Drivers are home on weekends, with rare exceptions. Continuous safety training is provided. All drivers are assigned Comdata cards, for on-the-road fuel purchases. (Many of our terminals have fuel facilities as well). Drop & hook opportunities exist on a large percentage of our pickups.

 

Independent Contractors

Compensation and Bonuses:
Our average independent-contractor grosses $125,000-150,000 per year. Independent-contractors are paid 65% of gross revenue, excluding permits, escorts and other accessorial charges paid by L.J. Kennedy. L.J. Kennedy provides all trailers. Settlements are paid weekly. All loads are paid upon receipt of clear bills-of-lading; there are no delays or hold-backs for broker loads. Security Deposits:
An escrow/security deposit of $2500 is required, payable in installments of $75 per week.

L.J. Kennedy pays for your IFTA & NY HUT stickers.

Cash Advances:
Parts & tires are available at competitive prices, after 90 days of active duty, at the discretion of management. Cash advances via Comdata are available.

Fuel:
Low-cost terminal fuel is available in Aliquippa, Stony Point, Florence, Kearny, and Carrollton -- as is discounted road-fuel. Owner operators are assigned Comdata fuel cards after completing four weeks of their lease.
